The Biggest Fear That Controlled My Life (Until I Took Back My Power)
If you asked me about my biggest fear, you expect me to mention something like failure. You also think of losing money or even losing loved ones. But the truth is, my deepest fear is something more subtle yet incredibly powerful:
👉 Losing control over the direction of my life.
Why Do I Have This Fear?
I’ve always been someone who craves control. Since I was 16, I managed a business. By 21, I co-founded a factory. My life revolved around creating plans and executing them. I moved to Istanbul to pursue my dream of studying at one of the world’s top technical universities. Every step seemed meticulously planned.
💡 But here’s the catch: while everything seemed under control, there was always a lingering question in the back of my mind:
❓ What if things don’t go as planned?
❓ What if I lose control of my progress?
❓ What if I don’t achieve what I’ve worked so hard for?
This fear wasn’t just an abstract thought—it was a constant undercurrent, shaping my decisions and how I reacted to challenges.

What Happens When I Lose Control?
One of the most challenging moments in my life happened when I was dismissed from my PhD program.
For someone like me, I thrived on planning and execution. Suddenly, it felt like the rug had been pulled out from under me. I was consumed by frustration and kept asking myself: “How did this happen? What went wrong?”
But as painful as it was, this moment turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons in my life:
👉 Sometimes, you simply can’t control everything. But you can always choose how to respond.
And so began one of the most transformative journeys of my life—a journey inward.

Facing the Fear: My Journey of Self-Discovery
Working with a Psychoanalyst: The Crossroads
After losing my PhD position, I decided to seek help from a psychoanalyst. After a few sessions, they presented me with two options:
1️⃣ Traditional Psychoanalysis → A slow, gentle process that can take years but would eventually bring me clarity.
2️⃣ Schema Therapy → A modern, intense, and fast-paced method. It would push me to confront my deepest fears. It would also tackle mental patterns. It promised quicker results but came with emotional pain and challenges.
I had a choice: take the long, comfortable path or the intense, accelerated one.
👊 I chose the hard way.
Why? I realized that to truly move ahead in life, I needed to face my deepest wounds. I also needed to confront my mental patterns head-on.

Experimenting with Medication: Managing My Mind and Body
Alongside therapy, I worked with psychiatrists who experimented with various medications to see what would best help me.
💊 Some worked.
💊 Some didn’t.
💊 Some had side effects that were hard to deal with.
But this process taught me something powerful:
✔️ Anxiety and stress aren’t just “mental” states; they’re deeply connected to biochemical reactions in the body.
✔️ Understanding and managing these reactions can help you move ahead with clarity and strength.
🔑 In the end, I learned how to regulate my stress, perfectionism, and fear of uncertainty. I managed them instead of avoiding them.

A Powerful Shift in Perspective: Controlling Time Through Money
During this journey, I came across Robert Kiyosaki’s Cashflow Quadrant theory, and it was a game-changer.
Kiyosaki explains:
🔹 If you learn to control money, you can control your time.
🔹 And if you control your time, you can focus on opportunities instead of stress.
This realization hit me hard.
For so long, I had been focused on external control—of situations, outcomes, and even people. But I had overlooked the importance of financial freedom and its role in reducing stress.
⚡ Managing my finances wisely empowered me. It allowed me to focus on growth, learning, and building something meaningful. I no longer had to worry about daily survival.

What I Learned About Control
So, do I still have this fear of losing control?
✅ Yes. But I’ve learned that it doesn’t have to paralyze me.
Because here’s the truth:
✔️ The world is unpredictable. No matter how much I plan, things will change.
✔️ True control isn’t about resisting change—it’s about adapting to it.
✔️ I don’t need to know every step ahead—I just need to keep moving onward.
✔️ Failure isn’t the end. It’s just another lesson.
Now, instead of fearing uncertainty, I embrace it. Instead of obsessing over controlling every detail, I focus on what truly matters:
🧠 My mindset.
⏳ My time.
💰 My financial freedom.
🚀 My ability to keep moving, no matter what.

What About You?
Have you ever felt like your life is slipping out of control?
Have you ever been paralyzed by a fear so big it stops you in your tracks?
Here’s what I’ve learned:
✅ Stop trying to control everything. Instead, focus on how you respond to change.
✅ Learn to control your thoughts, habits, and vision—these are the things that truly matter.
✅ And most importantly, keep going. No matter what.

A Final Thought
Life isn’t about having everything under control. It’s about learning to adapt, grow, and thrive. This still holds true even when things don’t go as planned.
So, let me leave you with this question:
💡 Are you ready to face your biggest fear and take back control of your life?
If I do it, so can you. The first step is to keep moving ahead. 🚀
